Well lets make it simple.

First get a strip of paper, probably about ½ inch wide and 11 inches long. You can also use a cloth tape like a tailor uses.

Second make a ring with the paper around your cock and mark where the end meets the paper.

Now lay that out next to a ruler and measure the length, that gives you the diameter of your cock.

Length measuring is done on the top and measured from the base to the tip of the head.

So you have your measurement.

Now decide do you want to be comfy with your dildo or do you want to work on stretching that hole?

Comfy means get the same size as you are. Stretching means start at a maximum of a ½ inch bigger than you are. Don’t go any bigger until you have more experience as you can cause problems.
